Our world is more interconnected than ever, and persistent challenges remain that threaten human flourishing. Through an interdisciplinary approach to global affairs, you can gain the skills needed to understand and navigate these issues in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors of our world.
You will explore fast-evolving topics in areas such as sustainable development, international policy, resource security, and global justice. You will be exposed to the breadth of contemporary global issues by engaging with NYU SPS renowned faculty, traveling abroad on short-term Global Field Intensives, and working alongside US and international partners in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors on your Consulting Practicum projects.
Whether you’re interested in a career in government, non-governmental organizations, the business sector, or law, an education in global affairs will expand your opportunities. Become skilled at building relationships across borders and cultures, resolving conflicts, and managing change.
Applicants are encouraged to take the two courses of their choice from a wide range of offerings that fulfill the requirements of their major. Additionally, they are advised to work toward their L4 language requirement early in the fall of their sophomore year. Students pursuing the Major in Global Affairs must take three courses with the GLBL attribute. Students are also strongly advised to engage in a summer internship and, with DUS approval, may count up to one course from an approved term-time study abroad program towards their major requirements.
